Red-tailed Hawk Takeoff

 REd Tail Hawk in th eFall 

One fall morning as I finished driving the loop at Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge, I spotted a Red Tailed Hawk in the trees beside the road. As I aimed my lens at him he took off and called out loudly. The Red-tailed Hawk, Buteo jamaicensis, is probably the most common raptor species in our region, often seen along roadsides or soaring.
